Improve the accessibility of television services for disabled customers.

Problem

People with disabilities require tailored access to most services as their ability to use them differs from person to person, and by the nature of the disability. Television services have an important role in most people’s lives, communicating and connecting as well as entertaining.

Solution

Sky has a programme to maximise access and inclusivity of its services regardless of age or disability. Approach to Accessibility ensures the right products are available as well as making sure the company communicates and supports the customer in the right way. The company has a dedicated team supporting accessibility.

Sky developed products in collaboration with customers and key stakeholders such as the Royal National Institute for Blind People (RNIB). The electronic programme guide (EPG) was redesigned for customers with sight issues and Sky voluntarily broadcasts more than a fifth of its services with audio description.
