M&S Plan A strategy net saving money

Driving bottom line returns through a sustainability strategy.

Marks and Spencer’s flagship sustainability strategy, Plan A, covers how the company fulfils its ethical and environmental commitments. £40 million per year was budgeted for achieving a set of targets.

M&S has discovered that sustainable business practice is simply sound business management, and it has saved more money than it invested in Plan A. The strategy has been extended and moved from a technical focus to a people focus: all 8,000 employees are being asked how Plan A can be a driver to solve their business challenges.
