I-Beam disaster shelter from shipping pallets

Challenge

Design an emergency shelter solution that is easy to provide.

Problem

In the aftermath of disaster or war, shelter is needed quickly. Rapid build of temporary shelter requires a design that makes use of robust, readily available materials of uniform shape.

Solution

I-Beam architects designed a ‘pallet house’ that could be constructed from the shipping pallets emergency relief supplies are brought in on.

Benefits

Rapid assembly from ubiquitous material
Robust for short-term shelter
